竹千代成为德川家第三代将军家光，迎娶鹰司家的孝子为正室。春日局则成为大奥第一位总管事，制定大奥内的各种规矩。家光对正室孝子不闻不问，引发家光喜好男色的流言。春日局听闻后向家光证实，家光要春日局少管他的闺房事。甚感烦闷的家光，悄悄出外玩乐，却遭受到刺杀，而刺杀者竟然是春日局在忠长(国松)身边当侍卫的三男正利。春日局要家光赐她死罪，家光却表示此事牵涉太广，主事人忠长的背后可能有阿江与的参予，便由却事件不了了之。阿江与偷听臣下谈话，不意听到秀忠曾背叛她，与阿静育有一女之事，大为震怒。质问秀忠时才得知竟与春日局有关，怒气更甚，再与春日局起冲突。家光与秀忠、忠长上京谒见天皇，期间阿江与因担心忠长而夜不安寝。阿江与废寝忘食兼日以继夜地帮忠长祈福祷告。最后阿江与在家光、秀忠与忠长赶回将军府后病逝。
