Oronzo Canà este chemat să antreneze Longobarda, echipa de fotbal a unui orășel din nordul Italiei, proaspăt promovată în prima divizie. Singura sa sarcină este să nu retrogradeze, dar patronul Longobardei complotează împotriva sa, considerând că actuala clasare a echipei este mult prea scumpă, iar cel mai bun atacant brazilian al său este afectat de o profundă saudade.
